The first of our four descendant databases is on RootsMagic Online

For the first time, the NFA is making it’s archived genealogical data available online. We’ve been maintaining our family trees in RootsMagic and we are now able to publish them via RootsMagic’s online tool.

About the data:

• Read Only

• RootsMagic controls the interface, we can’t modify it

• Contact us with corrections, additions, and comments

• Free

• Please remember that this data has been gathered over the years by volunteers. If you find a boo-boo, please point it out but be nice about it.

• Updated (at least) Quarterly

• Initially we will be publishing each database separately. John Nims database will remain the primary database and will be the only one to contain information about Godfrey Nims, his two wives, Mary Miller and Mehitable Snead. It will also house data and documentation of Godfrey’s father Henry, including documents recently located by Rob Brun del Re.

• We will publish the Abigail, Ebenezer, and Thankful databases as they are readied

Databases (as of Fall 2024):

• John Nims - RootsMagic Online - This is our “Primary” database in that it contains not only John Nims’ data but the growing research about his father Godfrey Nims and Godfrey’s two wives. It contains placeholder records for John’s three surviving siblings: Abigail, Ebenezer, and Thankful. We will be publishing additional databases on an on-going basis.

• Submit edits or additions via our online form.

The Nims Family archival database is dedicated to Historian Emeritus Allan R. Wiscombe whose tireless efforts over twenty years have more than doubled its size thus significantly expanding our knowledge of the four surviving family lines: John, Ebenezer, Thankful and Abigail. Allan's careful stewardship ensured our recordkeeping adhered to genealogical best practices and has yielded an outstanding archival record of our fascinating family history in America.
